Baiba has completed her bachelor's degree in tourism and a background in working in the Nature Conservation Agency of Latvia. She made a significant career shift five years ago to pursue her passion for crafting, especially for dressmaking. Before this transition Baiba didn’t think about the impact of fast fashion and wasn’t interested in seeking any information about sustainable fashion. And now, when Baiba is working as a dressmaker, she can see what time and dedication it takes to create qualitative garments, so she wants with NaiveFly to contribute to the fashion industry in a meaningful way.
Viktorija says that fashion has always been a part of her life. For all of us, clothes are more than just garments, they are a method of self-expression. Growing up in Latvia during the post-Soviet Union crisis, she remembers the annual tradition of buying new clothes at the end of August before school. It was usually just two pairs of jeans, a couple of sweaters, and some t-shirts, all bought a size larger to last as we grew. This experience instilled in Viktorija kind of eternal hunger for clothes and shopping. However, through self-reflection and conscious effort, she has learned to overcome this impulse. Our project, NaiveFly, plays a significant role in helping Viktorija become a more conscientious consumer.
